1. Considering the development opportunities available to you this year, how have you applied what you learned?
I’ve applied what I’ve learned by using more electronic based resources in my projects for every class. This year we also had to do a lot more essay writing, so I have become a better writer. Now that I have improved this skill even more, I can use essays to make my work stronger for all of my classes. Another major thing that I have learned about are strict due dates. Teachers were a lot more exact about when we had to turn things in, which was a big change. Now that I have experienced that, I think I’ll be better about due dates as well next year.
2. What strengths do you possess that you can use at a higher level next year?
One of the strengths that I possess is that I am now much stronger in technology and this is a skill that will always be helpful on the next level. Now that I am more informed about all of the importance of technology, I take every opportunity to incorporate technology into my work. Another strength would be the amount of investigating that I had to do which has led to me being more comfortable with doing research work for other classes. This is an important strength because at every level, research always comes in handy and makes work more reliable.
3. What obstacles must you work through so you can meet all your goals for this year?
The obstacles that I must work through are time management and weakness in certain subjects. I need to learn to manage my time more carefully and not spend too much time on one project or assignment. Also, when I have a weakness in a certain subject, I need to learn to work through it. This would involve going to more tutorials and studying more next time around.
4. Discuss what you have learned during the class and how it will assist you in achieving further academic and work related goals.
In this class, I have learned to use several different Microsoft programs correctly. This year we covered Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access. Having a better knowledge of these programs has helped so much in other classes. Now that I know how to add extra flair to my Powerpoints, I feel more confident about my projects standing out in class.
5. If you could do any assignment over this year, which one would it be and why? Any regrets?
If I could do any assignment over this year it would be Movie and Stuff assignment. I think I did a pretty good job but I think I still could have improved. I would have put more detail into everything and tried to get better at using the program that the assignment required, which was Microsoft Access. So, overall, I think I could have improved my work on that assignment.
6. What are 3 words you would use to describe this class?
Three words to describe this class are beneficial, fun, and exciting. The class is very beneficial because it helps us to become better with technology, which is very important in high school and helps us to get our work done. This class is also fun because the teacher always found a way to make everything that we learned more interesting. Also, this class was exciting because it covers so much about technology. We were able to learn about the history of computers, the internet, and lots of other exciting things.
7. How did your computer skills grow or improve over the course of the year?
My computer skills have improved a lot this year. Whenever I have to do a PowerPoint for another class or use Excel, I feel confident about my work. Now that I know all of the different ways to make a PowerPoint more interesting, I don’t have worry that my presentations will be dull. I’ve also found other uses for Excel outside of class. It’s very useful for when I am organizing and trying to get information in order. I would say that I’ve seen a big change in my computer skills.
8. What were your greatest challenges or lessons learned?
I learned that electives aren’t as easy I thought they would be. You have to put just as much time and effort into them, if not more compared to core subjects. So, next year I know that I will learn to take them more seriously. A challenge was keeping up with all of the work that my teachers gave me. In the future, I think I will learn to pace myself with my classes.

Reflections
The topic that I chose is very important to me. Education is a huge factor in how a person's life turns out. I want the outcome of this project to be kids trying harder in school and working towards futures for themselves. It would be great if after this project, my peers felt inspired to get better grades and focus on college and future careers. I want people to know that this topic really is serious. It may not seem like it now at such a young age but there is more to life than a part-time job or friends. Students should know that getting ready now is totally worth it later.
